Fast foot-operated designEver tried crushing a can with your bare hands? It’s much easier to squash it under your shoes! This home can crusher harnesses the natural squishing power of your feet, and makes the process faster and easier than ever. It’s ideal for crushing your way through big batches of recycling. |
Designed for tough cansSome can squashers can only handle aluminium cans, but this heavy-duty model can handle aluminium cans, plastic bottles and even hardy steel tins. It has an adjustable piercing screw and support bar to help crush the toughest tins too. Even Fido’s food cans are no match for it! |
Folds flatWith a locking mechanism on the side, the can crusher folds flat and locks in place. So when it’s not in use it can be stored easily. Keep it in a utility cupboard or down the side of your washing machine, and it will be always be ready and waiting to smoosh some recycling. |
How to Use
|
|
|
---|---|---|
Step 1Place the can crusher onto a level floor and lay the can down horizontally on top of the six raised nodes on the base plate. |
Step 2Using your foot, carefully bring the foot plate down on top of the can. |
Step 3Push the foot plate down with your foot as far as it will go (you will hear the can ‘crunch’). Now carefully lift the foot plate back to the ‘open’ position and remove the crushed can. |

It has a little swiveling latch on the side up front (the end away from the hinge) that holds the top arm down for storing the crusher. And a hardened metal pointed screw centered on the end near the hinge. And a ring up front on the right side for grabbing onto and picking up the crusher easily from the floor when you want to move the crusher somewhere else from where it is lying.
To use:
wear shoes or slippers with hard sole
Its best to have the crusher on the floor, near the kitchen counter so you can balance yourself while you stand on the crusher. Balance by placing a few fingers on the kitchen counter.
Run the pointed screw in about half way (not all the way) with your fingers. It turns very easily.
tilt the can and slide it in under the pointed screw (tilt the can up towards the non hinge end and down toward the hinged end where the screw is. This allows the can to slide under the screw.
Slice the can end under the screw.
Stand on the crusher with perhaps a couple fingers on the kitchen counter to keep your balance.
With both feet on the crusher, and yourself balanced so you don't fall, your entire body weight will crush the can.
After finishing however many cans, unscrew the pointed screw a bit, not all the way removed and swing the top arm down and use the latch to hold the arm down.
Store the crusher where you want to keep it.

If this sounds complicated, its is not. It's easy and very fast. If you have ten cans ready, they each will take about 10 seconds to crush.

We use this daily on a half dozen cans for a year now. It is as good as new and works perfectly. One of the best appliances ever purchased. I think it would easily last 20 years.
Top reviews from other countries
It does not slide due to the foam pads, has a bar to stop items moving and folds away with a hook.
I'm quite chuffed with this as it really saves space. I have to use a triple bin due to all the recycling, so it's limited space. This helps reduce the amount of times I have to empty the bin.
There is an end "bar" which is in fact just a bolt which you can place in 2 positions to stop the cans sliding out. There is also a grub screw which can also be placed in 2 positions and helps dent the can to help it collapse. Overall the design is very simple and functional, it doesn't need to be complicated. The construction is very heavy, which if you're going to use something to squash metal then you want it to be.
Usage is simple, if you've managed to find yourself sat looking at the reviews for this thing then in theory you already possess enough intelligence to work out that you pop a can between the two metal plates then stand on the top plate, thus flattening said can like a pair of pants in a hotel trouser press. Drinks cans squash very easily, some food tins may take a bit more pressure but will flatten completely once they start too.
The mechanism folds flat and has a hook to latch it closed, again simple and functional. with the bar in place you need to apply some degree of pressure to close it enough to latch (but it will close enough, just!).
If you're recycling correctly then you will have washed your empty cans out, if not then things will get a bit messy but it can be washed down.
I've would give this 5 stars on the basis that it is fully functional with no fuss, I've dropped it to 4 stars because I feel that the price, for what this is, could easily be quite a bit lower.
